Good vs Evil- The Sorcerer's Apprentice
We seemed to have missed the coverage of Disney's 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' (clips embedded below) but be sure we will be watching it very soon for obvious reasons.
We've been fascinated by the concept matter of the film which comic and super-hero fans will know features extensively across the genres. There seems to be just these two categories by which we can differentiate much of what happens daily in both the real and fantasy worlds- GOOD & EVIL... and how you differentiate can be quite subjective. Amateur and Academic Philosophers amongst you may also like to add your spins to how you would summarize the differences between the two, maybe pointing out that without one, the other would cease to exist? But then which side rules over the other?? (countless amount of questions!!)
Some argue that we all have an equal balance of both good and evil residing within each and every one of us all- and we are conditioned to personally choose between swaying on one side or the other. I guess we all as human beings have a threshold of tolerance which if pushed far enough could in effect reveal a side to ourselves even we are unaware of- We certainly start to believe this when we hear isolated incidents of individuals and groups reacting in negative manners.
Two well-known phrases to analyze- "Villains (apparently) have all the fun" and "the good die young!" Now you decide which category you fall into...
We acknowledge that there will always remain a battle between both.
And seeing as you ask- we fall into the category of 'learning students of life trying to do the best we can at all times.' We have our fair share of fun with minimal amount of villainy and if being good at the risk of not being able to do so for too long is the risk we take... we shall continue to thrive in the arena of taking risks daily!!
QUOTE:
“The person who risks nothing- does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and truly live.” |

Synopsis of The Sorcerers Apprentice:
Walt Disney Studios and producer Jerry Bruckheimer present THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE - a mind-blowing action adventure about a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who are swept into the centre of an ancient conflict between good and evil.
Set against the backdrop of modern-day Manhattan, Dave Stutler (JAY BARUCHEL) is just an average college student, or so it appears until a master sorcerer, Balthazar Blake (NICOLAS CAGE), recruits him as his reluctant protégé and gives him a crash course in the art and science of magic. As the unlikely duo prepare to do battle against the forces of darkness, led by Balthazar's arch-nemesis Maxim Horvath (ALFRED MOLINA), Dave discovers that it's going to take all the courage he can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE.
